DGFP Forecasting Working Group (FWG) Meeting held

As part of the technical assistance provided by the Management Sciences for Health (MSH) through its program (Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems – SPS) has facilitated to conduct an In-depth Evaluation of Procurement Management Capacity of the Directorate General of Family Planning.

 

The assessment was conducted by an international consultant and the report followed by many recommendations. One very important recommendation was to form a centrally coordinated mechanism namely “Forecasting Working Group-FWG” immediately to advocate at the highest levels to secure guaranteed funding for demand estimates arrived. Later on, the membership of FWG was finalized in a workshop on Procurement Procedure Manual held on 2-3 Oct 2010 under the chairmanship of Ms Dilruba, former Director General of Family Planning.

Afterward, The Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) has constituted a “Forecasting Working Group-FWG” for ensuring RH commodity security at national level with the concurrence of the MOHFW.

The first meeting with FWG members was held on 18 March 2012 at DGFP-IEM conference room at 11.00 AM, facilitated by MSH/SIAPS program (SIAPS is a follow-on program of SPS). The program was chaired by M.M Neazuddin, Director General, DGFP.

At the outset, Ms. Sabina Parveen, Additional Director (Foreign Procurement), DGFP has given the welcome address and informed the members on objectives of the 1st meeting of TWG. She also gave a brief on the status of quantification exercise facilitated by SIAPS program and also introduced the consultants of this exercise with the members.

M.M Neazuddin, DG-FP has emphasized on the need of doing the yearly quantification exercise and also critically reviewed the presentation made by consultants and showed his concern on the findings of consumption of contraceptives.

At the end of the meeting the Mr.Kafiluddin, Director-L&S, expressed his satisfaction on the discussion held between FWG members and the consultants followed by making some key decisions on the quantification exercise and concluded the meeting by giving thanks to all for their active participation.
